The Always Learning Gateway – technology supported curriculum

The Always Learning Gateway (ALG) is a technology-enhanced approach to teaching and learning covering 6 of the core subjects at Key Stage 3 (in England these contribute to the English Baccalaureate). It is accessible anytime, anywhere via the internet. Centred on a Big Question the ALG can be used by teachers as a whole class teaching resource. When students have developed the skills to work more independently they can obtain their own logins for the ALG enabling them to work in pairs or groups or to make progress at their own pace. This has the potential both to develop more independent and collaborative learners while also freeing up teachers to work more closely with those requiring additional support.

The ALG curriculum materials are being compiled by expert authors and digital designers and is being refined thanks to feedback from outstanding teachers and students from across our pilot schools. We believe this is allowing us to build a technology enhanced approach to learning that is rigorous yet more exciting and engaging than ever before.

The key aims of the ALG are to help students to master subject knowledge and to develop positive learning skills and dispositions.
